After WCW closed down,
Mysterio started wrestling independent in Mexico together with Billy Kidman. He did his first ever CMLL run, debuting in a Eight Man
tag match. Mysterio did a total of 10 matches in CMLL before returning to the
United States. Back in the USA, he worked in WWE developmentals XWF, IWA and
HWA, together with for example Eddie Guerrero and CM Punk.
